As part of the PAPG Lecture Series under its Continuing Technical & Professional Development (CTPD) program, the PAPG team is pleased to invite all respected members and potential members from the E&P sector, academia, and R&D to attend an insightful Technical Talk. Below are the details:

Author Profile:

Dr. Syed Asif Ahsan is a seasoned Petroleum Geochemist and Geologist with over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector across the North Sea, Abu Dhabi, and Pakistan basins. He holds a Ph.D. and MS in Petroleum Geochemistry from the University of Oslo (Norway) and an M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Karachi. His expertise spans geochemical analysis, exploration strategy, and field development planning.

The presentation will discuss the best practices for water disposal and compare with the disposal practices in Pakistan. Furthermore, the presentation will discuss some analytical and production methods being followed by companies to extract cations of commercial interest from oil & gas field waters. The presentation will also discuss how Hydrogen and Helium concentrations during drilling and production stream can be measured. This will then help companies to map concentration distribution of these non hydrocarbon gases and have an idea with regards to commercial production in hydrocarbon gas producing fields.
